Need for Seminar

Understanding the requirements of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRSs), and an appreciation of Corporate Tax Planning Measures is important for any Finance staff involved in preparation of Financial Statements and Tax Compliance & Planning; thus, all Heads of Finance, Reporting Accountants, Other Senior Finance Staff, Risk & Compliance staff and Internal Audit staff must familiarize themselves with the requirements of IFRS if they are to prepare financial statements that are compliant with IFRS Reporting Requirements

This forum is a “must attend” seminar for any finance professional whose functions include producing IFS-compliant financial statements.

Course Objectives

By the end of the seminar, each one of the participants should demonstrate competencies in the following practice areas:

  • Improved skills to engage with External Auditors more effectively in coming up with IFRS Compliant Financial Statements
  • Understand and apply IFRS requirements, including Accounting Policies and Disclosures
  • Understand Financial Statement Presentation and Specific Disclosure Requirements (operating segments, events after the reporting period, statement of cash flows, related parties, changes in accounting policies, changes in accounting estimates, correction of errors and discontinued operations)
  • Implement the IFRS Recognition and Measurement rules for Assets, Liabilities, Income and Expenses
  • Draw the Distinction between IFRS and IAS
  • Correctly identify Upcoming Changes, their Effective Dates and Impact on Financial Presentation, Statement Presentation, Disclosures and Financial Performance Reports
  • Correctly identify which Accounting Standards allow alternative treatments when preparing IFRS Financial Statements
  • Demonstrate Knowledge of Corporate Tax Planning & Management Tips
  • Define what Transfer Pricing is and Related Risks
  • Clearly understand the meaning of “Thin Capitalization”, when an Organized is said to be thinly Capitalized, Exposures and Recommended Responses.
